Cousins Subs and Milwaukee Bucks Raise $21,450 Through Block Out Hunger Campaign

Funds to benefit Hunger Task Force

MILWAUKEE (August 18, 2020) – Cousins Subs® and the Milwaukee Bucks teamed up to raise $21,450 through their Block Out Hunger campaign during the 2019-20 season. The campaign calls for a $50 donation from Cousins Subs to Hunger Task Force for every blocked shot the Milwaukee Bucks tally during the regular season. As a result of the Bucks blocking 429 shots, which is the third-most in the NBA, Cousins Subs will donate $21,450 to Hunger Task Force to purchase nutritious milk for the nearly 50,000 Wisconsin families it serves.

“Through our Make It Better Foundation, we provide financial support to address the vital community need of hunger,” said Justin McCoy, Vice President of Marketing at Cousins Subs and Vice President of the Make It Better Foundation. “Hunger affects so many of our communities and we’re grateful for the best teammates – the Milwaukee Bucks and Hunger Task Force – who work alongside us to improve the health and vitality of our communities across the state.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with Cousins Subs to make another donation to Hunger Task Force to help fight hunger in Wisconsin,” said Matt Pazaras, Milwaukee Bucks Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategy. “The Bucks put a real focus on making a positive impact in the community and teaming up with great partners such as Cousins Subs and Hunger Task Force through the Block Out Hunger campaign allows us to do that. Anytime our strong defensive play on the court can help the community, it’s a win-win.”

Since the campaign tipped off in 2016, Cousins Subs and the Milwaukee Bucks have raised $97,514 for Hunger Task Force. Cousins Subs and the Milwaukee Bucks named Hunger Task Force as the beneficiary of the Block Out Hunger campaign because it’s Milwaukee’s only Free & Local food bank, is Wisconsin’s leading anti-hunger organization and has a strong network of partner pantries across the state.

“A huge shout-out to Cousins Subs and the Milwaukee Bucks for continuing to help feed families in our community, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when many are experiencing increased uncertainty,” said Sherrie Tussler, Executive Director of Hunger Task Force. “The Block Out Hunger campaign continues to deliver in a big way. Thank you, Cousins Subs!”

In Wisconsin, nearly one in 11 people struggle with hunger. Campaigns such as Block Out Hunger are key players in the fight against hunger in our local communities. To learn more about the ways Cousins Subs and the Milwaukee Bucks help Block Out Hunger, visit cousinssubs.com/blockouthunger.
