MILWAUKEE (June 7, 2016) – Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA) recently recognized Christopher Cholka, senior accountant at Cousins Subs, with the Outstanding Young Professional Award.
The Outstanding Young Professional Award honors a WICPA member who exemplifies a strong compassion for the profession, is highly involved with the WICPA and serves as a motivator to those interested in the profession and the WICPA.
“Christopher is well-deserving and works tirelessly not only as a WICPA volunteer, but as a brand ambassador outside of Cousins, promoting our products and upholding our culture,” said Jason Westhoff, chief financial officer at Cousins Subs. “Having the WICPA recognize Christopher not only is a testimony of the effort he puts in with the association, but indirectly represents the passion all of our employees exemplify.”
Cholka joined the WICPA in February 2012 as a way to connect with other young CPAs, but quickly engulfed himself in new opportunities the organization offers. He is a member of the Young Professionals Committee, the Accounting Careers Committee (current chair), the 2015 WICPA Strategic Planning Task Force, the WICPA Educational Foundation Board, the CPA’s in Industry Spring Task Force and the Accounting, Auditing, & Financial Management Conference Task Force. After joining the Accounting Careers Committee in 2013, Cholka began actively connecting with high school students by providing CPA information to those interested, encouraging students to job shadow, and presenting real world examples rooted from textbook material.
“Christopher is very active and excited about his involvement with not only the Young Professionals Committee, but also about extending his reach into other WICPA committees and task forces,” said Elizabeth Hazi, CPA and WICPA Young Professionals Committee member. “On a personal level, he is a great mentor, friend and accomplice. Christopher always takes time to listen and work with you on whatever you need.”
Cholka joined Cousins Subs in December 2012 as senior accountant where he is responsible for weekly and monthly financials reporting, tracking fixed assets and overseeing various ad hoc projects. With more than eight years of accounting experience, Cholka also has experience in payroll processing and job costing.
“Similar to many areas in life, I believe the more you put into something, the more you will get out of it,” said Christopher Cholka, senior accountant at Cousins Subs. “I have had many great learning and growth opportunities throughout my career and participation in WICPA, and view my involvement as continual professional development.”
